FAQS

  •  What is Lifestyle Photography?

Lifestyle photography is a form of photography that emphasizes moments, emotions and connections between people, movement, storytelling, and feels true to life and authentic to the people I am photographing. I am not a photographer who captures perfectly posed photos, where everyone is looking at the camera. Instead, I have my clients doing things like walking, talking to each other, dancing, using their hands, cuddling. Senior sessions are a little bit different, those tend to be my most “posed” sessions. But I still incorporate movement and prompts like I would in all of my lifestyle sessions.

  • What is your style of editing?

I strive to edit my pictures to feel timeless, bright, warm, true to life, and authentic to you. I want your photos to bring you back to the moment we took them. What it felt like to be there. I try to keep my colors consistent with what it actually looked like in the moment. I don’t do any major retouching to my images. I touch up skin a little if needed and edit out anything distracting in the background. But that’s it. If you want photos of you, with major adjustments or changes to how you look. I am not the photographer for you.

  • How many photos will I receive from my session?

I take SO MANY photos during a session. Because I do capture a lot of movement and candid interaction, not every photo is perfect. So I go through and pick the very best of the best. The most flattering. The best moments. And edit and deliver those. I usually average 50-100 delivered images per hour of session time. I’m usually an overachiever and send close to 100, but you will always receive at minimum, 50 photos per an hour of session time.

  • What happens if the weather is bad on the day of our session?

I keep an eye on the weather closely in the days leading up to our session. If there is a slight chance of rain, it’s up to you, we can keep the date or reschedule. I can work light rain or mist with my equipment. But if it is a high chance of rain, we will need to move our session date. There will be no charge to reschedule.

  • Do you do newborn sessions?

I do, but I don’t do any technical newborn posing or props. My newborn sessions are family lifestyle. So mom and dad will be holding, snuggling, and interacting with baby. If the baby has siblings, we’ll get photos of the baby with mom, dad, & siblings. I’ll get detail shots of hands, feet, and face. I’ll get pictures of the baby in the nursery, details of the nursery, and pictures of the just baby, usually swaddled or on their belly laying down.

  • Can we bring props to our session

Totally! I don’t supply props but you are welcome to bring them! I like to know what you're bringing so I can come up with some creative ways to incorporate the props, but props are welcome! Here are some common props people bring to their sessions: a blanket to sit on or cuddle up in, baby shoes, onesies or ultrasounds for maternity sessions, letter boards, picnic basket with a cheese board and wine or champagne for a couples session, bubbles are fun for family sessions. Your car if it’s cute or unique enough to add interest to photos, a bouquet of flowers, glitter, *smoke bombs (as long as it is safe for the location we are shooting at).

  • How long until I receive my images, and how are they delivered?

I send a sneak peek with a couple of your photos, within 24-48 hours. The rest of your session will be edited and delivered within 2-3 weeks after your session date. Your images will be delivered as high resolution images through my online gallery, Pic-time. I love Pic-time because it has an option to download each image in web-sized format for social media sharing as well as high resolution. Pic time also offers high quality printing of your photos. As well as beautifully crafted albums, Christmas cards, and so much more!

  • What do I wear for my photos?

One, I love to help clients pick their outfits for the photos, so if you need help, I’m happy help in any way I can. We can totally set up a face time talk through outfit options, or you can text me pictures of what your thinking. I am also happy to help you online shop, if your buying something new for the shoot. But when you book with me, I always send a session guide that covers what to wear and what not to wear for your photos which should be helpful. And Pinterest is always a great place to look for outfit inspiration. You can check out my “What to Wear” board if you want some ideas!
